Becoming parents changed virtually everything about our lives. And in navigating that, I gained a new perspective and understanding of how to show up for
others facing their own life changes.
For a long time, my wife, Larissa, and I were pretty content with our lives. We’d been together over 20 years and had built businesses in real estate sales, investing, and property management. Without kids, we had a lot of freedom—if we wanted to do something, we could. There wasn’t much holding us back.
But over time, we realized we were ready for something more. We’d talked about adoption off and on, but it wasn’t until the last few years that we got serious. We looked into foster-to-adopt, and before we knew it, we were fostering. It’s an emotional process; you never know how long a child will be with you or whether adoption will be possible. But even in those early stages, we started to see how different life looked with kids, and we knew it was something we wanted long term.
We had a few short-term placements before a set of four-year-old twins—a boy and a girl, Azrael and Azalee—were placed with us. They moved in at the beginning of 2024, and by October, we adopted them.
That changed everything—our routines, our goals for the future, and how we made decisions. Every part of our lives had to shift to include the kids. The first six months were a big adjustment for everyone. Growing up in foster care comes with lots of challenges, so we wanted to prioritize being there for them and providing that consistent stability they needed to feel safe and comfortable.
To do that, I stepped back almost completely from real estate sales, and we relied on our investments and property management company for income. It gave us the flexibility to step back when we needed to, which gave me an even greater appreciation for the value of real estate and having passive income.
For over 20 years, I have worked in real estate through all kinds of market shifts, including the crash in 2008. In 2015, I co-founded a brokerage with a longtime friend. We built out Hub Real Estate and eventually joined eXp Realty as a team to take advantage of their national platform and resources. That move gave me more time to focus on our family, which was invaluable.
And now that our kids are settled and in school, making friends and getting involved, I am refocusing on working directly with clients again. And coming into it with an entirely new understanding of the kind of changes families go through and how that impacts their real estate needs.
Life doesn’t stay the same, and that’s not a bad thing. Priorities shift. Plans evolve. And I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to walk people through those transitions in real estate. Whether it’s a growing family, downsizing, or a desire to start investing, I get it, and I want to help you make the right move when the time comes.
Larissa is currently getting her real estate license, too. She’s always been involved behind the scenes, helping with our property management
company, long-term investments, and fix-and-flips, but once she’s licensed, we’ll be able to work together in a much more hands-on way with clients. She’s warm, approachable, and great with people. She’s going to be a huge asset for our clients and our team.
Outside of real estate, Larissa and I are also part of a team, Worldwide Group, focused on helping others build financial freedom. We’ve seen firsthand how much that can change your life, and we’re always looking to share what we’ve learned with people who want more for their future.
In real estate, my focus is on helping people make smart decisions and avoid costly mistakes. I’ve built a brokerage, managed investments, run a property management company, and currently lead a real estate team. That means I’ve personally done hundreds of transactions and overseen hundreds more. I know what can go wrong, how to avoid it, and how to keep things on track when challenges come up. If something needs to be resolved, I either know how to handle it myself or have the right connections and resources to get answers and bring in the right people to get it done.
Having lived in Northern Colorado most of my life and worked in the business for over 20 years, I know the market well and how to position you for success. I’m highly communicative and make sure you fully understand your options at every step. Whether we’re weighing an offer, navigating inspection outcomes, or deciding how to price a listing, I break things down in a way that’s easy to process so you can make smart, informed choices without second-guessing. And even after the transaction is over, I’m a lifelong resource you can count on through each phase of your real estate journey!
Sincerely,
